Proper storage of hydraulic oils in Barrels-Safe and Effective Storage methods and Transferring methods of Hydraulic fluid

Usual practice is to store the hydraulic oil supplied in 205 liter barrels.

Barrels should be stored under cover. If not possible barrels stored outside should be on their sides in special racks or special drum racks with wedges to prevent rolling on flat shelves.

Barrels stored outside should be sheeted over to prevent rain water accumulating on barrel head

Barrels stored outside should have a chock or similar under the bottom rim so that the barrel stands at an angle. The barrels can then be swiveled axis so that the bungs are at angles and thus clear of any accumulation of water.

Safe and effective storage methods to store hydraulic oil is as follows

  • Store oil in a sturdy, leak proof metal container. A tank that is approved by the local fire department is an option.

  • Label each container with its grade.

  • Keep the MSDS of each grade of oil.

  • Prepare the COSHH Assessment for each grade of oil.

  • Keep the barrels on standard drip trays.

  • Keep the appropriate spill kit near the storage area.

  • Ensure that the oil storage area have proper ventilation and moisture free atmosphere.

  • Ensure a proper firefighting systems and fire extinguishers inside the storage area

  • Keep the necessary first aid box and eye washes near the storage area

Advantages of Proportional Directional control valves when compared with ordinary “Bang-Bang” Directional Control valves

Directional control valves (DCV) are one of the most fundamental parts in hydraulic system. They allow fluid flow into different paths from one or more sources. They usually consist of a spool inside a cylinder which is mechanically or electrically controlled. The movement of the spool restricts or permits the flow, thus it controls the fluid flow.

But in a proportional valve it allow infinite positioning of spools, thus providing infinitely adjustable flow volumes. Either stroke-controlled or force-controlled solenoids are used to achieve the infinite positioning of spools.

An advantage of Proportional control valves when compared with ordinary “Bang-Bang” Directional Control valves are as follows.

  • Smoother operation of the system because the rate of opening and closing of the valve can be controlled by the amplifier. Self-switching conventional valves are available but they are difficult to setup and can give consistent performance.

  • The reduction of shock in the system can extend the life of hydraulic components, seals, coolers and filters, improve machine performance and product quality, reduce operator fatigue(noise, vibration and harshness)

  • Valves can be positioned for optimum hydraulic performance without regard to access for manual adjustment. This can also simplify machine design because of the removal of access restrictions

  • In proportional valves hydraulic remote control is possible, the use of proportional valves does away with the need to run high pressure hydraulic lines to the operators control station

  • Valves can be continuously adjusted during the machine cycle allowing flow or pressure to be precisely matched to the process requirements. This can significantly simplify that would otherwise have to use multiple (fixed setting) valves with selection via solenoid or cam operated valves

  • Accuracy and reputability of the total system can be improved by the use of electrical feedback transducers (position, force, velocity, flowetc.)and the signal to proportional valve can be automatically adjusted (closed loop control)

  • In the systems with computer controlled sequencing, setup times and commissioning times can be reduced on repeat installations because the same control program can be employed repeatedly

Volvo CE Redesigned L350H

Volvo debuted the all-new flagship of its wheel loader range. The new L350H is the star of ConExpo. The new L50H has  10-percent improvement in fuel efficiency and also in design. It also has next-generation hydraulics fitted with it and is powered by a Tier 4 Final D16J engine, for high torque at low rpm. The ideal partner for quarry production, the L350H now comes with a higher capacity 7.3 cubic meters (9.5 cubic yards) rock bucket, for maximum performance.  The new L350H has got  improvements inside also  The industry-leading Volvo cab boasts excellent visibility, minimal noise and vibration levels, as well as Automatic Climate Control (ACC), to ensure an always comfortable climate in the cab. Controls can also be configured to suit operator preferences, adding to the overall comfort of the operator. The next generation Contronic monitoring system and digital display incorporate the latest improvements in intelligent Human Machine Interface (HMI). The system monitors operation and performance in real-time, providing the operator with all necessary machine information. The new load sensing hydraulic system works in greater harmony with the drivetrain, increasing response times  resulting in up to 5% faster cycle times. The hydraulic system and drivetrain improvements, coupled with the latest Volvo engine technology, make the L350H up to 10% more fuel efficient in comparison to the L350F it replaces. Clearence between rear fenders and tires has been increased which boost machine’s performance and reliability

HAW Introduces All New SALAMI VDP08 Load Sensing Valve

f:id:whyps:20170223173725j:plain

Hydraulic & Automation Warehouse (HAW) recently introduced all new SALAMI VDP08 load sensing valves. The all new VDP08 valve is available to customers by order. The SALAMI VDP08 has become an industry-favourite because of its simplicity of design, high tolerance and ability to function under extreme operating conditions and excellent controllability. The SALAMI VDP08 load sensing valve is ideal for mobile applications where independent flow control of actuators is needed without being affected by load variations. This valve is easily retrofitted without the need to alter mounting measurements.

Up to 130 l/min, max. working pressure 350 bar

Excellent metering characteristics increase energy savings

Working modules with pressure compensator built-in

Pre-compensated control valve

Different choices of working flows, choosing the proper spool

Possibility of pressure relief valve on the LS line coming from the ports

Closed loop electro-hydraulic proportional control available analogue or CANBUS

Other benefits of the valve include its modular design. “In the case of a malfunctioning valve section, this design feature means that only the faulty section needs to be replaced, and this can be done on site without having to remove the entire valve,” van Wyk continues. This also means a much more versatile solution that allows OEMs to expand the valve solution should the need for more machine functions arise. The VDP08 load sensing valve can be ordered in both variable and fixed displacement options.

Caterpillar Named As One Of Worlds Most Admired Companies In 2017

The Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies® list has also listed Caterpillar as One Of World's Most Admired Companies. In 2017 Caterpillar is ranked in 47th position. From 16 consecutive years Caterpillar has appeared in the Top 50 All-Stars list.

Fortune also ranked Caterpillar as the number one most admired company in the Construction and Farm Machinery category. Caterpillar has appeared in Fortune’s industry rankings every year since 1998 -- and this is the third year in a row that we've been ranked number one.

To determine the best-regarded companies within each industry, the global management consulting firm Korn Ferry Hay Group asked 3,800 executives, directors and securities analysts to rate companies within their own industry on nine criteria, including innovation, social responsibility and global competitiveness.

To determine the Top 50 All-Stars, Korn Ferry Hay Group asked the respondents to select the 10 companies they admired most. Unlike with the industry rankings, respondents could pick any company in anyindustry while selecting their top 10 companies. We're honored to have been included in many respondents' top 10 lists.
